Web Designer Better?

What do you think? Are you ready to hire a Web Designer? At least with a web designer you can deal with a real person as well as the designer is more flexible. Usually with a template there are limitations.

If you take a look at my website, I did design a few templates to be able to offer websites at a spectacular price. The templates are premade by me. I use html (hyper text markup language) and css (cascading style sheets). I already took the time to create these designs, the coding is in place and I only have to fill in the text, pictures and links. This is how a low price can be offered.

After asking yourself all these questions and researching website designers, maybe you are thinking . . . “A website designer can be somewhat expensive”! Possibly but it could be well worth it. Maybe you are thinking “Well I can buy one of those website templates and make my own website”. Or you could go to one of the hosting companies that offers a website template if you don’t know html or css or javascript . .

Many years ago (just a few – LOL - no need to say how many!_) I was on a free site that supplied templates, since I didnt know much about web designing that is the route I took. Well my placement in the search engine was bad, really bad! I didn’t know about ”meta name=”Description” or ”meta name=”Keywords”, or a robot text file . . . I could go on about what I didnt know.

In addition to what I have listed in my previous blogs, as far as hiring a website designer, I can advise you further on some other important things you should know before hiring your website designer.

Find out the designer's method in building your site.
Check out the web designer's portfolio (even if there is only a couple or a few, you can have an idea how appealing the sites are)
Don't be fooled by 'pretty' or 'flashy' sites
Make sure there are no hidden costs before hiring a web designer

Website Should be Simple but Functional…

A website that has a visual appeal and is fast loading overcomes the first hurdle. What I find most annoying is when it takes too long for a page to load! Statistically speaking, I’m sure that holds true for the majority of web surfers. That is why my strategy and belief is simple but functional. Sometimes the load time is the web’s fault and quite often it is the web designer’s fault. Poor coding, flashy-flashing sites, large jpegs, etc. can result in slow load times.

So if you don’t have a referral can you base your decision on the visual appeal and the fast load time? Probably not! How about if we include ease of navigation in there too?

So now you can base a decision on visual appeal, fast load time and ease in navigation which are all essential aspects of what one should want in a website design. So do I pass the test on these? Would you hire me now?

There are other important factors to take into consideration since you really don’t know if what I said previously are true facts about me or not! Selecting a website designer can be a very overwhelming task!

Someone who knows me would hire me! Referrals are probably the safest and best way for one to make a decision whether or not to hire a website designer! Here are 2 referrals that I got from either a friend or a relative:

Hi – I am located in Connecticut and I am starting my own website design business. I am a self taught web designer and still learning, as there is always room to learn.

How difficult is it when you are a new web designing business and just starting out! Very difficult! There are thousands of web designers to compete with, so what makes me so special? Why would you hire me to create your website??

I’m honest, I’m very concientious, and I am dedicated. My goal is “what is in your best interest” . . .
